Sustainable solutions for vulnerable women and children around the world.
It's a beautiful thing to follow one's heart. To hold space for your passions, and pursue that which brings spark to your life. Even better still, when your pursuit of those passions gives rise to opportunity to positively impact the lives of others. And such noble pursuits gave rise to the creation of, Fly Fishing Collaborative!
Founder, Bucky Buchstaber's love of fly fishing, expert professional resources throughout the fly fishing guiding industry, and acute recognition that human trafficking (2018 Global Report on Trafficking in Persons) is the world’s third largest enterprise after drugs and weapons, led him to a higher calling - a want and need to combine his passion for fly fishing with the building of global Aquaponics Farms to implement justice initiatives locally, providing sustainable livelihoods that prevent women and children from entering sex-slavery.
Garnering support from giants like Patagonia, Simms, Orvis, Filson, American Angler, and a rising tide of support from the philanthropic community, Johnna Wells joined the Fly Fishing Collaborative as they hosted their annual Fundraising Banquet Auction at the Multnomah Athletic Club, where paddles and support were cast high and far with expert generosity, helping to propel the Fly Fishing Collaborative towards their most successful fundraising auction event to date!
Every dollar raised empowered the Fly Fishing Collaborative in their efforts to build sustainable aquaponics farms which provide resources (fish and vegetables) to women and children who would otherwise become currency - literally needing to sell themselves as a livelihood, in a broken world.
